A soulful singer with incredible range and artistic interpretation, Cynthia is the daughter of the 1960’s doo-wop group “The Wheels” lead singer, the late Rudolph Anderson. A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, Cynthia studied the flute which she played through high school. Her father discovered her talent while teaching vocals in Long Island.
Cynthia fronts several bands with energetic performances as lead female vocalist. A versatile performer with a keen sense of rhythm who easily flows between various genres’ including Gospel, R& B, Club, and Jazz!
Cynthia has enjoyed musical plateaus such as singing National Anthem live on the world televised World Cup hosted at the Meadowlands Arena in 2002. She also performed at the world renowned Cotton Club with the late Blue Lovett of The Manhattans and opened for the Blue Notes. No stranger to all types of venues, Cynthia truly enjoys performing and sings for one person just as she would for thousands!
An original member of the now scattered female quartet, “For Your Pleasure”, Cynthia has written and recorded original material, and with her brother co-founded the production company Anderson/Tucker Productions.
Although inspired by musical giants such as Prince, Stephanie Mills and Patti LaBelle, Cynthia brings her own style to each cover tune making each song unforgettably hers. Cynthia is at home on any stage including the acting stage. Recently appearing and touring in the Vince Kee production of “Angie Jackson, the Musical and it is evident that she was born to perform. Her active-upbeat and soulful performances often leave audiences wondering where she pulls the energy from!
She performs with several bands at Pocono Resorts, clubs throughout the Tri-State Area, Inaugural Events, private parties, Country Clubs, Cruises and Hotels. She is a regular lead vocalist with Mr. Steve’s Sugar n’ Spice Band, New Direction and the East Coasts’ Premier R&B and Classic Soul band, Anonymous. She has also provided front lead vocals for Renaissance Band, The James White Band, The Funktion, Funktion 11, and she has been the female lead for Nakked Soul for the past 3 years.
Cynthia’s ability to bring lyrics to life for audiences make her a much sought after entertainer. Energetic and truly gifted, Cynthia is an entertainer/ song stylist. A former Open Mic hostess, her speaking voice captivates, her presence commands attention and her humble grace make her a pleasure to work with.
Cynthia launched her own band in September of 2014 with some of New Jersey’s best musicians. Cynthia Tucker and The Big Bang are excited to be on the music scene. Look for Cynthia on a stage near you!
